[CEO Blog]SPECIAL INTERVIEW 01 Part 2-Only those who imagine 100 or 200 years from now can make universal things.

This is the second part of the dialogue project, Mr. Taro Hakase. The talk spread about universal manufacturing that will remain for 100 or 200 years, a company that will serve as a model, and Mr. Hakase’s life philosophy and family morals. Please see what kind of values the two people have come to terMr with.

What is necessary for universal manufacturing that will remain in posterity

Mr.Isosaka:In the first part of the dialogue, there was a story that there is no waste in things that will remain for a long time over time.I think music and art are prominent when it comes to things that will remain in posterity, but do you have anything in common with things that will remain for 100 or 200 years?

Mr. Hakase:Looking to future generations, I think it is a belief that “someone will listen and see you 100 or 200 years from now.”Beethoven must have been writing the song, believing that we were definitely listening.
Even paintings,It is said to be a myth, but Van Gogh sold only one painting when he was alive. On the other hand, Picasso was selling well. But what they both have in common is probably that they were looking to the future. It is a different spirit, isn’t it?

Mr.Isosaka:In the case of music, does it come through when you look at the score?

Mr. Hakase:Of course. For example, in the 18th century, every week, the song for the dinner party must be finished as a so-called craftsman with Sassa or Sassa. The delivery date is strictly adhered to.In the 19th century, for example, he wrote a symphony for an annual concert performance. It doesn’t mean that it will remain in posterity because it took time, but there are things that can be conveyed when you see it.
Even at that time, while composing music at the request of aristocratic clients, there must have been a person who had a vision and a dream, rather than “Is this OK?”

What is the “company you want to support” initiative in Brunello Cucinelli?

Mr.Isosaka:Classical music is often thought of as old music, but my interpretation is that it is not old, but universal and high-quality.Not only music, but fashion and manufacturing like us, I think that it is inherited because of its universal quality.
Mr. Hakase also has a deep knowledge of fashion, but you know Brunello Cucinelli (Note 1).

Mr. Hakase:I’m a big fan! The example of Cucinelli is very easy to understand. It’s beauty to be needed.

Mr. Isosaka:When I wanted to make Kawashima “a company that pursues high quality”, I thought that it was necessary for me to raise myself by touching high quality things, so I learned about Cucinelli and learned it. It came to be.
Knowing that Cucinelli’s greatness lies not only in things, but also in the management philosophy and way of thinking behind it, I am keenly aware that there is a model for “high-quality manufacturing” and “high-quality companies.”Cucinelli’s efforts are one of the utopias I seek.

Mr. Hakase:I see! I understand very well! Not only making good clothes, but also making a village called Solomeo (Note 2).It means that everyone will be happy.

Mr.Isosaka:That’s right. It’s like this to continue to provide universal quality.

Mr. Hakase:That’s right, isn’t it?It’s probably a model for a variety of companies in the future. It’s not cheap at all, but this company wants to support and donate.

The importance of experiencing and feeling the real vibrations

Mr. Hakase:In the end, it’s all about how much you can create your favorite space and time with your favorite people and work in team play.I spend a lot of time with someone out of 24 hours a day, so what kind of time do I spend with that person?Actually, it’s so important that you can only think about it.I can say this, but if you don’t like going to work, you should quit.

Mr.Isosaka:I always ask employees, “Are you excited? Is it fun?”
That’s what I want to say.If you don’t get excited, you won’t get a good performance. If you are not,
,I’d like you to devise ways to enjoy it, and I’m the top person,
so if you’re worried about improving relationships or the space of your company, I’d like you to come and talk to me.

Mr. Hakase:When I was in elementary school, I went to school with the motivation to make a girl I like and go to see her.It can be in-house, it can be a business partner, and it is also a good idea to forcibly create a person who wants to meet this person.

Mr. Isosaka:The motive can be impure, isn’t it?I had a girlfriend in the second and third years of joining the company, and I used my wisdom on how to increase productivity without working overtime in order to meet her early.
We always tell our employees not to spend a lot of time just for work, but for themselves. It doesn’t matter if you spend your time studying or eating delicious food, so I tell you to experience various things.

Mr. Hakase:I’m worried about the influence of Corona, but it’s important to meet people, exchange voices, and feel energy. You can feel the vibration and energy by talking with Mr. Ihayasaka like this today. That’s the experience, isn’t it?

Mr.Isosaka:That’s right. It’s an experience of feeling the vibrations on my skin.

Mr.Hakase: Not only people, but also music and paintings.Looking at the real thing, the energy of wave motion is different. The way it burns into the brain is different. That’s why I go to the museum to see only one painting, whether it’s Van Gogh or Matisse.

Mr. Isosaka:Really so.When I went to the Nika Exhibition, I was overwhelmed by the power of the person who was drawing. If you don’t feel well here, you will be pushed. It’s important to experience such power, isn’t it?

Mr. Hakase:Yes.As with music, once you input it, human beings are wonderful creatures and you can always draw an image in your brain.Even if it is a replica postcard, the impression at that time will be revived. It is how many such emotions can be stored in one’s own drawer by experiencing it.

Go beyond stereotypes!

Mr. Hakase:I can spend as much time as I can to experience it, which is my philosophy, but when I take a rest, when I play, I rest and play with all my strength. No matter how tired you are, you can play all day or sleep for 20 hours.
There are people who often say, “I couldn’t sleep yesterday.”In such a case, don’t force yourself to sleep and just wake up and do something you like or have fun with.We have to enjoy every moment. That’s why I often tell my children that “regularly, in fact, it’s not regular.”

Mr.Isosaka:That is like ‘Don’t get caught up in stereotypes.’

Mr. Hakase:That’s right! One more thing, my family’s lesson, is telling the children, ” yes ” twice! It’s a message that hasn’t gone blurry since I sent it out.

Mr.Isosaka:What does it mean??

Mr.Hakase:“”Yes, yes!”” looks like a fool, but it means you can’t live just by accepting the common sense of the world as “”yes!”””It’s good to be sweet in the world.Life is more enjoyable with such a stance.

Mr.Isosaka:This is also a way of thinking and action that is not bound by stereotypes, isn’t it?

Mr. Hakase:Of course, there is good sense and morals in the world, but it is a good idea to overcome the fence like common sense once.We just have to experience and understand this, such as getting angry and reflecting on it.

Mr.Isosaka:We have been very stimulated by the goal of beyond the boundaries of packaging manufacturers from packaging machine manufacturers.I’m also looking forward to the upcoming tour.Thank you for today.

Mr. Hakase:Thank you as well.
